Why did we recommend this?
Because your window has a 70mm deep recess, we recommend inside mounting your shutters. Just double check for handles, locks and anything else that could get in the way.
Choosing how to mount your shutters comes down to the design of your window. Because you have an unobstructed recess at least 70mm deep, we recommend inside mounting.
Inside mounted shutters sit inside the window recess and are usually fitted flush with the wall. Outside mounted shutters are fitted onto the wall around the window.
Both mounting options look great. Many people prefer inside mounting because the shutters don't extend into the room. Inside mounting also results in a slightly smaller shutter, saving you money.
Outside mounted shutters look great on all windows. They are the best choice for windows that don’t have a recess, or when handles, winders and other obstructions mean inside mounting is not possible.

Frame style
Z Frame
L Frame
A Z frame looks great and is the easiest frame to fit. Consider how a Z frame would look when placed over the decorative pattern of your architrave - often a Z frame would be a great choice! However, if you’re unsure or don’t think it will look good then stick with an L frame. If you do choose a Z frame, we’ll make it with a sill frame on the bottom (because your window has a sill).
When choosing between a Z and an L frame for windows with decorative or bullnose architraves, the key thing to consider is the shape of the architrave. A Z frame is easier to fit and because the lip of a Z frame extends onto the wall around the window there are never any light gaps, even if your window is slightly out of square. Consider how that lip will look when sitting on top of the architrave - often it will look great. If in doubt, slick with an L frame.
Why did we recommend this?
An inside mounted L frame looks great on any window. It can be placed at any depth within your reveal and doesn’t cover your architrave. You might also consider a Z frame - just consider how this would look over the decorative pattern of your architrave.
