Why did we recommend this?
Outside mounted shutters look great on any window and are the perfect choice when it’s not possible to fit within a recess. To inside mount you need a recess that is at least 70mm deep.
Choosing how to mount your shutters comes down to the design of your window. Because your window doesn't have a 70mm recess, we recommend outside mounting. You don't have room to put shutters inside your window's recess.
Outside mounted shutters are fitted onto the wall around the window. If you have an architrave they'll be fitted onto the architrave.

We do not recommend that you choose inside mounted shutters. Inside mounted shutters need a recess that is at least 70mm deep or they will not fit the window. Proceed with caution!

L Frame
Why did we recommend this?
For an outside mount, your decision is easy! An outside L frame is the exact size required to ensure shutters won’t hit the wall behind.
Outside mounted shutters use an L frame. This frame is mounted around the window, either directly onto the wall or onto the window’s architrave. The depth of the frame is exactly large enough to allow the shutters to open without hitting the window behind. Outside mounted L frames are made with a removable strip down the centre that is attached after installation to hide screws and holes from sight.
