Please tell us about your creative process when it comes to styling/designing the space?

When I was pregnant with Banjo, I wanted to create special, meaningful pieces of art for his room. The artwork I created became the foundation for the colour scheme, which featured neutral tones and sage green. While I didn’t follow a specific theme, I wanted the space to feel calm, soft, and relaxing.

The shutters were a perfect addition to the room, offering both style and functionality as window coverings.

What were the most important elements/features of the room?

Knowing I would spend a lot of time in Banjo's room—whether changing him or feeding him—I focused on creating a space with a soothing mood and ambiance. It needed to be a place where I could unwind and relax during my postpartum days. Rather than a traditional feeding chair, I chose a futon that could be easily folded out for naps or to feed Banjo while lying down.

The shutters were also a key feature, as they allowed me to control the lighting, letting in as much or as little natural light as needed throughout the day.

What are your top recommendations for a timeless nursery space ?

I believe white or timber furniture is always a safe and timeless choice. It creates a warm, inviting atmosphere and serves as a neutral base for any nursery. Simple, classic furniture pieces allow you to easily update the room with new accessories, themes, or decor as trends evolve or as your baby’s interests change over time. I love the combination of friendly artwork and rainbows in Banjo’s room and think they give a playful feel without being too overstimulating for a baby. Soft curves and light colours I think are key.

Tell us what you love about having shutters in the nursery?

I absolutely love the atmosphere that the shutters create in the room, especially when the morning sun filters through, and the light reflects softly around the space.

They’re such a versatile window treatment, allowing you to adjust the amount of light coming in throughout the day, which is perfect for those moments when you need to control the light levels.
