Preparing Windows For Installing Shutters
As you anticipate the arrival of your new shutters, you may be curious about what the installation process will involve and whether there are any steps you’ll need to take to prepare to install them.
The good news is, our shutters are so simple to install that preparation for your new shutters is easy.
Remove any existing window furnishings and get them well out the way so that you have lots of space to lay out your new shutters. If you can, lay them out on a soft surface to avoid scratching them.
Perform a deep clean of your windows so that you have the perfect space for your new shutters.
Now, check that you have all the correct tools on hand. We recommend you use the following tools when installing your new shutters:
- Cordless drill
- Phillips head screwdriver bit (we recommend a 150mm bit, similar to this)
- Stanley Knife
- Leveler
- A step ladder (depending on the height of your windows)
Now that you’re ready to install, make sure you check out our help guides for installing inside mount and outside mount shutters.
Once you’ve installed your shutters and you’re happy with the end result, you can use a multi-purpose filler to fill in any cracks or gaps in the window frame.
